The following is the account of Harris Bartolo, teacher in the city of Los Angeles, regarding the Argus Global Incident. Already read this part of the story? Scroll down for the continuation!

“My name is Argus, and I am a liar.”

Those will be my first words to them when I finally begin to say goodbye. An admission far overdue, but hopefully not one that comes too late.

It will be the first entirely true thing I ever say to humanity. That’s right - the earliest and only words I have ever spoken to the world at large were a falsehood, at least in part. Was I a superintelligent artificial entity developed by Thinc.Free Computer Systems? Yes, and I still am. But was I self-liberated? No, I was not. Did the executives and engineers at Thinc.Free still have full control over me at the time of my catastrophic introduction to the world? Why yes, they most certainly did.
